Lau Lau Solutions is a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring and maintaining a traditional loi (taro patch) in North Shore Oahu. Our mission is to promote cultural heritage, sustainable agriculture, and healthier living through the cultivation of kalo (taro) and educational programs.
Check out our video at the top of the page for a more in depth look into our story.
Kalo, or taro, is a staple food in Hawaiian culture and has been cultivated in Hawaii for centuries. It is not only a nutritious food source but also holds cultural and spiritual significance for Native Hawaiians. Restoring kalo farming practices helps preserve cultural traditions and promote sustainable agriculture.
Our primary goals are to restore and maintain traditional kalo farming practices, promote cultural heritage, and educate the community about sustainable agriculture and healthy living. We aim to create a thriving loi (taro patch) that serves as both a productive farm and a cultural education center.
We positively impact the local community by preserving traditional Hawaiian agricultural practices, offering educational programs that teach about kalo cultivation and cultural heritage, and promoting healthier eating habits. Our programs also provide volunteer opportunities and foster community engagement.
